So Far, So Good. Except for the Snow.
We’re mid-way through January and I’m still on schedule. In past years that would not be newsworthy, but this year I’m taking nothing for granted. I’ve been able to run pain-free four days a week so far. Each run has been 3 miles which is all I need to do for now. The goal is to slowly build back my base after missing so much time in 2025 due to a nagging injury.
The only negative is that most of the runs have been on the basement treadmill. We’ve had snow and ice constantly so the sidewalks and roads have always been covered. I was able to get outside a few times and it felt great. The cold is not the problem because I can dress for that. But I’m getting smarter in my old age so if the footing is questionable, I’ll turn closed captioning on the TV and jump on the treadmill.
Hopefully, the patience will pay off and I’ll be able to add miles and speed later this winter. And hopefully that will be outside.
