The Real ART of Running

Need Motivation? Buy Some New Gear!

Love my new Jacket!

This time of year many runners have trouble getting motivated to keep running. Many have just finished a full or half marathon or maybe both.  The days have less daylight, temps are cool or cold, and the approaching holidays mean extra time commitments. If this sounds like you, then go shopping!  But not just any shopping – go get some new running gear. I actually wasn’t losing motivation but I did need a new winter running jacket.  I didn’t have a jacket for 20-40 degree weather. So I hit my local independent running shop, Hanson’s in Royal Oak, MI (always support local running stores that support local races if you can, no chain stores).  The young guy working that Sunday suggested a Nike (sorry I can’t support Nike) or a Saucony.  The Saucony seemed like just what I was looking for.  Half-zippered front, good weight, zippered pockets.  Using my Hanson’s coupon from one of the local race goodie bags I even saved $20.  With my new Siberius Sportop jacket I ran four days this week in sub-30 degrees and it felt great. Bring on winter! I’m ready.
