The Real ART of Running

Goal! (And it’s only October)

One of my goals for 2019 was to run 1000 miles. For you English majors, that’s an average of roughly 20 miles a week. During the winter months I average a little less than that and in the summer a little more unless I’m training for a marathon. This year I wasn’t planning on a marathon, but I still increased my miles more than usual this summer so I reached my 1000 mile goal by the end of October. That’s an average of 23.7 miles a week so far this year. If I maintain this weekly average I’ll finish with over 1200 miles. That will be my highest total since 2016, my last marathon year. With the holidays approaching I’ll likely reduce my weekly miles in December but I feel good that by the end of November I should pass my 2018 total of 1084 miles.

Below is the Goal tracker from my running log. You can see my log and all my stats by clicking on “My Running Stats” at the top of my blog homepage. Check it out and let me know what you think. Now I need to start thinking about my 2020 running goal!
