February Recap – Making Progress
In most years there is not much to report in February. Usually, it’s a month of runs to build base miles at an easy pace. In February I’m typically not training for any specific races so I’m not doing speedwork or increasing mileage. This year the news to report is that it’s a typical February.
I’m happy to report that I had 16 runs in February for a total of 52 miles. All runs were 3 miles or slightly more with the longest being 4.5 miles. The best news is that I’m not feeling any pain during or after my runs. There’s some soreness in the high hamstring and glute but with consistent post run stretching it doesn’t linger. I’m also getting smarter in my old age and doing stretching and strength training on a more regular basis. That was one good take-away from by injury and time in PT last year. I have a long list of exercises from my orthopedic doctor and the physical therapist that I mix into my weight training routine.
So I’m very encouraged by a boring, typical February of running.
Praying that March is just as typical.
