Check Out the Neighborhood
One benefit of running you may not realize is that it gives you a chance to check out your neighborhood or a town you’re visiting. While running you can “sight-see” as you pass homes, businesses or local parks. Unlike driving a car, you can look around while running and not worry about accidents. You can slow down and take your time through interesting areas and not feel like you’re holding up traffic.
Checking out the neighborhood is especially interesting this time of year. After a long winter when most people stay indoors, it’s fun to run around the city streets and see people cleaning up their yards, starting remodeling projects or even getting landscaping started.
Plus, when most people see a runner in their neighborhood they’ll acknowledge with a wave or smile. Few people will do that to a car driving down the street.
