The Real ART of Running

Change of Plans

Be flexible.  That small piece of advice often comes in handy.  Like this week when I thought I would be running outside again but found out that running in the dark with a patch covering one eye is NOT a good idea.  My Bell’s Palsy has still not recovered so my eyelid does not close.  Running with wind hitting your bare eyeball and not being able to blink is a problem.  Especially in the dark, cold morning while dodging traffic.  So, I have been forced back to the treadmill for a while longer.  One thing that is starting to scare me is that I’m getting comfortable on the treadmill.  I don’t want to be comfortable.  Okay, maybe part of me does but there is no challenge in being comfortable.  Until I can get back outside I guess I’ll have to be flexible.
