One of the Best Things I’ve Bought in a While: Nathan Waist Belt
I rarely do product reviews but I recently started running with something that I’m enjoying so much I had to share. It’s the Hipster Waist Belt from Nathan.
Sometimes when I run I’ll listen to music but more often I’ll listen to podcasts. And occasionally I won’t listen to anything. There are many mornings when I enjoy just hearing the silence of dark winter mornings. I can hear my breathing and “listen to my body” as the running books say. Regardless of whether I’m listening to something or nothing, I like to carry my phone. I feel safer having it just in case there’s an accident or health issue and I need to get help. For years I’ve been using an armband to carry my phone. The armband works fine but it does get a bit uncomfortable in the hot summer and bulky over layers of running shirts and jackets in the winter. At several recent race expos I’ve seen a booth selling waist bands. I always thought they would be bulky or uncomfortable so I didn’t give them real consideration. But a couple months ago I saw an ad or article online that reminded me of them so I did some investigation. After reading some reviews I ordered one on Cyber Monday. It has worked much better than I had expected. It holds my larger iPhone Plus, key, and gels. But most importantly it is comfortable and doesn’t bounce or shift. Admittedly I haven’t worn it in the hot summer but the way it fits seems like it will work just as well in summer.
So, if you run with a phone or need to carry keys or snacks, I highly recommend the Nathan waist belt. They have various styles and if they all work as well as the Hipster, you’ll be happy.
